
Vacancy: Child Psychologist (Specialising in Play Therapy)
Location: Remote working with travel to field locations optional / Based in Countries of Operation (Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Qatar)
The Role
Many of the children we serve have endured significant trauma due to war, displacement, and instability. We are seeking a qualified Child Psychologist with expertise in Play Therapy to provide trauma-informed mental health support and therapeutic interventions for displaced children.
Conduct remote evaluations for children experiencing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges.
Develop and implement personalised treatment plans, integrating Play Therapy techniques to help children process trauma.
Provide Play Therapy sessions as a primary approach to helping children express emotions and build resilience.
Adapt therapy techniques to align with cultural and social sensitivities of displaced children.
Educate parents, guardians, and caregivers on the benefits of Play Therapy and how to support their child’s mental health.
Work closely with psychologists, social workers, and medical teams to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to mental health care.
Advocate for accessible, child-friendly mental health interventions for refugee children.
Contribute to program development and impact assessments for mental health interventions.
Requirements
Degree with specialisation in psychology.
Licensed to practice as a psychologist in at least one country.
Formal training and experience in Play Therapy techniques.
Experience working with children affected by trauma, displacement, or humanitarian crises.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care, PTSD treatment, and culturally sensitive mental health approaches.
Understanding of mental health challenges faced by displaced children.
Fluency in Arabic or French (in addition to English).
Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
Strong organisational skills, a compassionate nature, and a desire to make a difference.
