
Vacancy: Child Psychologist
Location: Remote working with travel to field locations optional / Based in Countries of Operation (Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Qatar)
The Role
Many of the children we serve have endured significant trauma due to war, displacement, and instability. We are seeking a qualified Child Psychologist to provide remote mental health support, trauma-informed therapy, and psychological assessments to refugee children in crisis.
Conduct remote psychological assessments to evaluate children’s emotional, cognitive, and behavioural well-being.
Provide individual therapy to children experiencing PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, and other trauma-related disorders.
Utilise evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Play Therapy, and EMDR where appropriate.
Develop and implement personalised treatment plans based on each child’s needs.
Work with parents, caregivers, and guardians to educate them on children’s mental health needs and coping strategies.
Provide family therapy sessions when necessary to strengthen the support system around the child.
Offer training sessions for caregivers and NGO staff on trauma-informed approaches and mental health first aid.
Collaborate with social workers, psychiatrists, teachers, and medical teams to ensure a holistic approach to children’s well-being.
Advocate for increased access to mental health services for refugee children in host countries.
Contribute to impact assessments and program development to enhance mental health interventions.
Requirements
Degree in Clinical Psychology, Child Psychology, or Counselling Psychology.
Licensed to practice as a psychologist in at least one country.
Experience working with children affected by trauma, displacement, or humanitarian crises.
Knowledge of trauma-informed therapy, child development, and culturally sensitive psychological care.
Fluency in Arabic (preferable but not required).
Understanding of psychosocial challenges faced by displaced children and their caregivers.
Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
Strong organisational skills, a compassionate nature, and a desire to make a difference.
