Providing ongoing support to the family in Cairo, Egypt including in-person visits with physical and financial aid.
Ahmed’s Story
Ahmed, a 10-year-old boy from Gaza suffers from haemophilia and a Factor X (10) deficiency, an inherited bleeding disorder that prevents the blood from clotting properly. Factor X deficiency is one of the rarest clotting disorders, affecting only one in a million people, and it puts Ahmed at severe risk of life-threatening bleeding episodes.
His condition requires ongoing management, including access to clotting factor concentrates, specialised care which was not available in Gaza due to the limited access to medical resources and so he was evacuated to Egypt.
Relief Across Borders was made aware of Ahmed's situation after his evacuation. His condition requires ongoing management, including access to clotting factor concentrates Once we were informed of Ahmed's case, our team registered Ahmed and his family to enable us to provide essential support.
The family are facing significant emotional and financial strain, and Relief Across Borders aim to alleviate some of the burdens they are facing while ensuring Ahmed received the care he urgently needed.

He has previously suffered from intracranial haemorrhage requiring hospital treatment and plasma transfusions. Due to the lack of specialised medical care in Gaza, he was evacuated to Egypt, where he requires ongoing management with clotting factor concentrates and continuous medical supervision to prevent and manage life-threatening bleeding episodes.
